Kathleen M. Gates, PhD joins AIC:HR

Kathleen M. Gates, PhD, has joined the Arlington Innovation Center: Health Research as an assistant research professor. She also holds a joint appointment in Virginia Tech’s Psychology Department.

Gates earned a BS in Psychology from Michigan State University and an MA in Forensic Psychology from City University of New York. She concentrated on quantitative methods for social science research while obtaining her PhD in Human Development from Penn State University. Her work focuses on developing, testing, and applying novel methods that enable reliable inferences when studying individuals. In this vein, she has collaborated in research on mother-infant dyads, heart rate variability, and daily diary studies that attend to person-specific substantive questions. She currently focuses on developing statistical methods for analyzing brain imaging data.
